STRICTLY'S Katya Jones has been blackmailed by a catfish who's been impersonating her on Instagram.
The 31-year-old shared the worrying messages with her 178k followers on the social media platform.
The profile, which has since been deleted, had a very similar username to Katya's and had been messaging her followers pretending to be her.
Katya, who has been a professional dancer on the BBC One show since 2016, took to her Instagram Story to publicly ask the impostor to stop.
She wrote: "Can catfish @katyaajones STOP messaging my fans please."
But they said that the only way that would happen was if she coughed up some cash in return.
"Send me money to stop this," the impersonator wrote back.
Katya couldn't believe what she was reading and shared their reply to her Story, with the caption: "Really?"
Since shooting to fame in 2016 on the show, Katya has become a huge fan favourite, and loves to keep everyone updated on her page with what she gets up to during her day to day life.
Last year she was paired with boxer Nicola Adams, making them the first first same-sex couple in the show's 16-year run.
However, fans were left devastated when the two were axed from the competition after the pro tested positive for coronavirus.
To stop the spread of the deadly bug they had to leave the competition.
However, it looks like a reunion could be on the cards very soon.
The pair are now “top of the list” of pairings wanted for the 33-date tour due to start next January.
An insider said: “Nicola and Katya’s time on Strictly was cut short in November so this feels like a bit of a lifeline.
“Katya has been on the tour twice and she’d love to go back.
“If Nicola’s schedule will allow, it would be a perfect reunion for them.
“No bookings have been confirmed yet but they’re top of the list and will be approached.”
